Types v0.1.0

Source
Linux's scalar types for process, file and user identifiers.

FileDescriptor

pub type FileDescriptor = int32

A file descriptor, as the kernel numbers one. Signed and small. A syscall taking one receives it sign-extended to a full register, which SignExtendFd does.

Source

FileMode

pub type FileMode = uint32

A file's type and permission bits, as open and stat carry them.

Source

FileOffset

pub type FileOffset = int64

A byte offset within a file, which the 64-bit ABI makes 64 bits everywhere.

Source

GroupId

pub type GroupId = uint32

A group identifier.

Source

ProcessId

pub type ProcessId = int32

A process identifier, as getpid and its relatives report one. Signed, because several calls overload the negative range to mean a process group.

Source

UserId

pub type UserId = uint32

A user identifier.
